Journey Through Art
Lorenzo Barron is an established East Anglian Artist who has been painting quality works of art since 1996.
Born in Gt. Yarmouth Norfolk, England, Lorenzo is the oldest son of 8 children. His Grandfather Dr Thomas Adams illustrated children’s stories in the 1930’s and his Mother Patricia Barron, followed in her Father’s footsteps with her popular “fairy tale” watercolours. From his Mother’s family, Lorenzo has inherited this beautiful gift to produce excellent quality works of art. Lorenzo has a wide range of styles which reflects his passion and feelings of the beautiful scenes around him.
In 1981, Lorenzo discovered that his Mother-in-laws great, great uncle is the renowned artist Sir Alfred Munnings. He is especially known worldwide for his horse paintings. However, there is one particular painting that received universal acclaim entitled "Nelly Gray" which depicts a beautiful lady in a red dress; this can be viewed in the Munnings Collection at The Sir Alfred Munnings Art Museum. What makes this painting of great interest to Lorenzo is that “Nelly Gray” is one of Lorenzo's ancestors. Lorenzo was intrigued to discover that all those years ago both family lives had crossed paths both in the 19th and 21st centuries.
Lorenzo has been running 'free' 10 week "Journey through the field of art" courses for us since 2015. These have become very popular. The course involves learning to paint or improving your painting while building self esteem and self confidence in Lorenzo's unique programme. The groups are small and of all abilities, people with learning disabilities, their parents, carers and families. As this is such a popular course, people need to book a place for the 10 weeks. Next 10 week course commences on 6th June 2017
Tuesday Mornings 9.15 - 12.15
On June 30th 2017 we will start our new art venture "Art Cafe" where anyone can come along and join in. The art cafe is not a
course, they run each Friday morning as a drop in activity, no booking necessary. There is no charge to join in the basic art and crafts activities such as water colours, sketching, colour pencils, collage work, , but there are some more advanced art activities available for a small charge of £2 such as mosaic work, ceramic, glass and fabric painting.
We will also be making a quilt to raise money, this will be a small charge to 'buy a square' and we will auction the quilt afterwards.
We also plan to have a fundraising wall where budding artists can 'buy a brick' to paint' and leave their mark in the Centre.
If you would like to bring your own art things with you just to have the pleasure of doing art with others, then that is welcomed.
We have had a lot of interest in this activity so turn up early to get a seat.
This activity is part of our fun day Fridays where there will be live music outside, art in the morning and gaming in the afternoon.
